Korean War

The Korean War has been going on for 50 years about and it yet has not stopped. This real has to stop when the we invaded we should have killed them all and then left so we can all move on. But it is the most Forgotten war ever........ During his first Presidential Campaign General Eisenhower had promised to bring an end to the Korean War if elected. Once elected, Eisenhower set to work on this promise even before he took office. On November 29, 1952, President-elect Eisenhower secretly flew to Korea. The trip was planned with the utmost security to guard against any assassination attempts. Aides to accompany him were quietly picked up at obscure locations scattered throughout New York City. During his absence various dignitaries and staff members made "visits" to his home pretending to see him in his office. While in Korea Eisenhower revived the stalled peace talks and visited American soldiers near the front lines. It was not until December 6th, when Eisenhower was on his way home that the public learned of the trip. As a result of his peace seeking mission an armistice was signed in July 1953, eight months after his return. Under the terms of the Armistice signed in Panmunjom, the two Koreas were separated by a demilitarized zone at the 38th parallel, roughly the same border that existed prior to the war. The war was seen as proof that the United Nations could be counted on to resist aggression and that modem warfare could be conducted without resort to nuclear weapons. Ending the war was also of a personal interest to Eisenhower since John Eisenhower, the President-elect and Mrs. Eisenhower's only living child was serving as an officer in Korea. So it still is going on right know as I type away. Five links to find out about the Korean War is:

Hunting on Sundays

Hunting on Sundays have been talked about alot but is could be a good this to do for the econmie and the other this in the forests to low the poplutions of animals so they could have more food. Like on this website here http://outdoors.mainetoday.com/hunting/050209sherwood.shtml these are Mainers with the same opions that would like more days to hunt because of the weekdays they work.

But with the other side they do not want us to hunt because they think it is a bad thing to do because if we get this they think we will get more of a reason to try to get more laws passed to do more http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2007/11/07/lawmakers_to_consider_ending_longtime_sunday_hunting_ban/
like on this website they do not like us to hunt on a sunday which would be better for the working people to get more time in to hunt.

2008 New Cars

New 2008 Bullit Mustang

11-06-07: After a year of photoshops, guessing and leaks it is finally here. Four decades after hitting the big screen and redefining the on-screen car chase, the Ford Mustang Bullitt returns to the streets in 2008, blending the best Mustang ever with the latest Ford Racing technology.

This modern classic delivers a balance of power and performance, thanks to special chassis and suspension tweaks as well as the 315 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque that Bullitt delivers through its 4.6-liter V-8 engine.

"The 2008 Mustang Bullitt embodies the true spirit of the 1968 movie car," said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development. "Like the original Bullitt, this car dials the driving dynamics up a notch for Mustang enthusiasts who love the performance, handling and the sweet sound of Ford power that only Mustang can deliver."

The 2008 Bullitt arrives in dealers early next year, with a starting MSRP of $31,075 (including destination and delivery) and limited production of 7,700 units for the U.S. and Canada.

New 2008 Impreza WRX STI

The 2008 Subaru Impreza has been glimpsed in pictures, but now we have a glimpse of the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

Illustrations published in Japan show confirm that the unpopular propeller motif inspired by the company’s aviation heritage has been replaced by a more conventional look. Andreas Zapatinas, former design director at Subaru, had developed the aviation theme in reaction to the bold grilles now fashionable in Europe, but a poor reaction in the marketplace led to his departure last summer.

For 2008, a new hatchback model will join the Impreza lineup, a reaction to the recent comeback by this configuration as seen in trendy examples like the Audi A3 and Mazdaspeed 3 five-door. We hear there's a new multi-link independent rear suspension under both the hatchback and the sedan.

The 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI will be a hatchback, just like the 2007 Subaru WRC rally car. The intercooled and turbocharged, 2.0-liter flat-four engine will produce 300 horsepower, although the engineers have spent more effort on improving power at low- and mid-range rpm.

Full details are expected to be released at the New York Auto Show.

New 2008 Civic

New 2008 viper
For 2008, the Dodge Viper SRT will use an 8.4-liter aluminum V-10 engine that produces a full 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque. 0-60 times are under four seconds, 0-100-0 in under 12 seconds, and braking 60-0 comes in less than 100 feet. See how Dodge Vipers are built! ... See the new ACR model! oh20 reported that the 2008 Viper Coupe and Convertible both averaged over 200 mph around the Transportation Research Center’s 7.5 mile oval test track in Ohio. The convertible even averaged 197 mph with the top down. Both have similar drag (aerodynamic) numbers, according to representatives of the SRT team. SRT powertrain engineers had to not only increase performance, but also comply with regulatory requirements such as federal Tier 2, Bin 5 and California’s Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV) 2 mandates. Working with specialists from McLaren Performance Technologies and Ricardo, Inc., SRT engineers began by following the racer’s basic formula for more power: bigger displacement, more efficient breathing and higher engine speed.

The new Dodge Viper SRT10’s deep-skirted V-10 aluminum engine block was bored out 1 mm, raising the displacement to 8.4 liters from 8.3 liters. With strengthened bulkheads and improved water jackets for better cooling, the block includes pressed-in iron cylinder liners and cross-bolted main bearing caps for strength and durability.

Horsepower didn't come only from the engine, the use of a plastic hood allowed engineers to increase the airflow through the hood scoop; openings along each side are not just for show, but to circulate air within the engine compartment, to keep power going with a warm engine. It also lowered weight and helped keep the Viper costs down. Other body panels are also plastic, and carbon fiber is used for some structural parts to keep weight down.

The Viper SRT10’s 8.4-liter engine breathes through new cylinder heads equipped with Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC)-shaped combustion chambers, larger valves and Variable Valve Timing (VVT). VVT electronically adjusts when the exhaust valves are open and closed according to engine speed and load, allowing the engine to “breathe” cleaner and more efficiently.

The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 V-10’s two-piece intake manifold combines a cast aluminum lower with smooth runners for better air flow, bolted to a die-cast aluminum upper plenum. A revised air-cleaner box with a low-restriction filter sends air through a dual electronic throttle control into the intake module.

The air-fuel mixture is ignited by platinum-tip spark plugs fired by individual plug coils mounted on the cylinder-head covers. The pistons themselves are equipped with larger-diameter floating pins with bronze bushings for higher loads. Forged powder-metal connecting rods are secured with aircraft-quality fasteners for increased fatigue strength.

Engine lubrication is managed by a larger oil pump and a swinging oil pickup adapted from Viper competition engines, to improve oil pressure in high-rpm and hard-cornering conditions. Spent gases exit through tubular air-gap headers, which improve exhaust flow and ensure quick catalyst light-off. The headers’ stamped stainless-steel outer shell acts as a thermal heat shield for the individual stainless-steel runners that contribute to better flow separation and exhaust tuning.

The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10’s V-10 channels its power through a new, smaller-diameter, twin-disc clutch (a change from the larger-diameter, single-disc setup). The new clutch reduces rotating inertia by 18 percent, resulting in reduced clutch-pedal effort and improved engagement feel.

The TR6060 transmission is the latest evolution of the Tremec T56 six-speed manual. It features 10% wider gears for higher torque capacity, and a new synchronizer package. A new shifter system results in reduced shifter travel. There is also now a provision for adding an external transmission cooler.
